Ulster County Real Estate

Another Christmas Holiday behind us and this year is almost done. Where did the time go? I don’t know about you, but this was a particularly busy holiday season for me and my family. As expected, those family members living outside of the area, descended on Ulster County like a Mongol horde charging out of the steppes. I mean its family so you do… As if I were not already busy enough with chores and o’ yes work, I by mistake, scheduled my yearly physical for the week prior to Christmas week. Well, the EKG was off from my last physical, we rushed a stress test, like I didn’t have any stress already, and I ended up getting a heart catheterization to check out the equipment the Wednesday before Christmas. It ended up being nothing, all that for nothing, what a relief. What I find interesting though, is that no matter where you go, there you are. As I lay on the prep table for the procedure, one of the team says, “so you’re from Saugerties, do you ever go to Woodstock to see Santa arrive?” Why heck yes, and pay attention to where you’re shaving, I was nice about it….
If you haven’t seen Santa arrive in Woodstock, you are missing out on one of the most festive and particularly enjoyable attractions of the Ulster County holiday season. Each year, Santa arrives using a different method of transportation. Hot air balloon, space ship, Reindeer, you get the idea, it’s Woodstock! The kids are always excited to see how he will arrive, plus, the town is chocker block full of people. Good time to catch up with those you have not seen in a while. Anyway, there is so much to see and do in the county that it would take me much more space than I have here to describe. But I digress, so we always plan on some outdoor activities when the Mongol horde descends. A couple of the adults, and a few of the children, complain about the cold, (must be a learned behavior), but off we go regardless. I always tell them that this is the Northeast, and we get winter, so get over your self, and dress in layers. The children usually are pretty good about it, the adults, well…
Anyway, this has been a wonderful season full of joy, hope and gifts. Some wrapped and some granted. I hope that yours was as wonderful. The best in the New Year to you and yours…
