Ulster County Real Estate: 22nd Anniversary Of The Garlic Festival

This year was the 22nd anniversary of the Garlic Festival held on the 25th and 26th of September in Sauerties, New York, one of the "10 Top Coolest Small Towns in America". Sponsored by the Saugerties Kiwanis Club, some 20,000 to 30,000, so I was told, attended this fantastic  2 day garlic event, including myself.

There were food vendors selling delicious and unique foods, craft vendors selling clothing, jewelry and souvenirs and garlic specialists to teach people about the importance of garlic. Also, some great musical acts such as Uncle Rock, the Mojo Myles Band, Jules and Rick and Mark Rust.  The troupes stage shows of  Arm-of-the-Sea Theater were there to entertain the young and old. Lectures and cooking demonstrations by master gardeners and celebrity chefs. This year’s lineup included Ted Maczka, Kevin Archer, Pat Crocker, New World Home Cooking's Ric Orlando, David Stern, Michael Rick and Noah Gress.

Most of all, there was a amazing variety of foods, samples of hot sauces, braided and strings of garlic heads with a selection of over 60 varieties to choose from, and garlic-flavored foods of every kind. There were garlic veggies and meats, garlic fries, garlic pizza, garlic pickles and condiments, garlic soups, garlic pretzels, garlic bacon, garlic jelly, garlic cheeses, garlic nuts, garlic corn-on-the-cob, garlic biscotti, garlic fried dough, garlic fudge, funnel cakes with caramelized garlic, garlic ice cream and garlic Italian ice.

If you haven't had a chance yet to attend this 2 day Garlic Fest. Mark your calender for next year to head to the cool Town of Saugerties in Ulster County, New York. I hope to see you.

Mesa Real Estate wrote: What an amazing sounding event! I have never heard of a garlic festival before, but your account of it makes it sound splendid. I need to look for one in my area, or just come to yours next year! Thanks for posting!
