The Rondout Waterfront

While in Kingston, NY there is an area on the waterfront called the Rondout. This area, while small definitely has a huge amount of character. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and offers row house style apartments for rent and condo conversions for sale. The architecture ranges from Victorian, Federal, Greek Revival, Gothic, Italianate, Romanesque, Queen Anne, Renaissance Revival, and Colonial Revival. If you are vacationing, you simply cannot leave without seeing the Rondout.



There are many area attractions and activities in this part of Kingston, NY. Visit the trolley museum, the nautical museum, and art galleries, many of the shops, restaurants or flower gardens. The marina is a local hot spot in the summer months, you can even take a tour boat from here. Beside the Rondout Creek, you will enjoy a stroll on the well-lit brick sidewalk, the sunsets are absolutely incredible from here. There are also waterfront concerts and seasonal festivals and events throughout the year.


Rondout Music Lounge is a wonderful little place to grab a craft beer or a glass of wine and something to eat. They have music most every night, offering something for most everyone’s taste. There are also restaurants from fresh seafood, Italian, to Mexican. A favorite activity for locals is to sit on the patio of Mariner’s Harbor, sip a cocktail in the warm afternoon sun or on a nice warm evening.

Should you own a boat, just follow the Hudson to Kingston and enter the Rondout Creek at the lighthouse. There are many spots to dock, making it an ever growing destination for boaters in the summer!
