Ulster County Real Estate: New Years Resolution, You Must Be Crazy…

As the New Year pushes onward, the young pup of a year has historically seen my resolutions fall off the wayside pretty quickly. I mean, why drag something out that is going to happen anyway, right! We all participate in the struggle to keep the promise. Every year I say, “This is the year that I get back into shape!” Well I tricked myself and surprised others by starting a workout routine four months ago. I have returned to my childhood, (some would say I never left), and started a boxing workout routine with a trainer. It is a great way to get into shape, a wonderful workout, and hey, you’re not getting your head beat in!
If you were unaware, this area of the Hudson Valley, Ulster County in particular, has a rich history of supporting some of the most…
Ulster County Homes Conjure Up Emotions

Real Estate is so unique. It’s not only the largest investment most people have in their lifetime but it’s quite often a place to hang your hat as well. As real estate agents in Ulster County, New York, we critique other people’s homes on a regular basis. Whether we are listing a farmhouse in the Town of Marbletown, a contemporary in Woodstock, a quaint cottage in High Falls or an old stone house in Stone Ridge, it is our job to help homeowners price their home to sell in a timely manner while not sacrificing their equity to make that happen. We also advise our purchaser clients about home values as well. Since these homes don’t belong to us personally, it’s easy to take all the emotion out of the equation. For instance, we walk into a room for the…
Ulster County Real Estate: Home Staging In Woodstock & Olive Area

I recently called on Anna Sember of The Well Dressed House, a home stager in the Ulster County area, for the staging of a home located just outside of Woodstock, in the Olive area. Anna services Ulster County, including Woodstock, Stone Ridge, High Falls, Catskill and everything in between.

The home is about 10 minutes from the NYS Thruway, Exit 19 Kingston ramp, just onto Route 28 to the town of Olive / Shokan area, just past Woodstock.
The home sits privately back off the road in a great setting and has a wonderful floor plan. You are just minutes from skiing at Hunter, Windham and Bellayre Mountains as well as the Woodstock Village Green for an afternoon stroll in the shops.

The only thing missing in this home was the lack of definition in most of the…
Ulster County Real Estate -“Animal Paradise” or “You want an animal pen with that house?”

I’m busy; you’re busy, as we all are, it’s called life. Because of this, I tend to do a lot of activities after hours, and at odd times during the slower days. (Plenty of that recently!) So I am taking my newest bundle of energy to my Veterinarians office in Woodstock for shots and a check up. As I maneuver this eighty pound ping pong ball into an exam room, it dawns on me that maybe, just maybe, he will need a bit of training. Seems like the staff already assumed this, because no sooner had I broached the subject than an address for a training program in Kingston was pushed into my hand. One of the best in Ulster County I’m told, and really adapt for your needs. What am I to make of that, I am starting to feel a bit self-conscious?
After filling out…
Ulster County Homeowners, Go Green on a Budget

As a Real Estate Agent and an owner of Real Estate in Ulster County I see more and more emphasis being placed on properties being energy efficient. Ever see those beautiful ENERGY STAR qualified and LEED® Certified homes in real estate magazines or ads and dream about owning one, having that satisfaction of feeling you’re lessening the environmental impact on society, contributing to our planets longevity, lowering our countries dependence on foreign energy sources, etc.? Contrary to popular belief, going Green isn’t just for wealthy individuals and homeowners. All of us are capable of taking small steps to help in those worthwhile endeavors!
New and custom-built homes and buildings have the advantage of being able to incorporate green features into…
